THE PROBLEM WITH HANDICAP

A number that never moves isn't a score.

A handicap is slow and easy to game. Your rating has stakes: up when you win, down when you don't. Beat someone better and it jumps.

NEVER PLAY ALONE

Someone's already waiting on the first tee.

Every course is seeded with ghosts before it opens — so 6am on a Wednesday is still a match that counts.

QUESTIONS

Before you join.

What's a UGR?

Your Universal Golf Rating — built on the system chess and most competitive sports use. You start near 1200, and every round moves you up or down based on who you played and how it went. Beat someone rated above you and you gain more; lose to someone below you and it stings. Unlike a handicap, it responds to what you did yesterday — not your last twenty rounds.

Do I need someone to play with?

No — that's the whole point of ghosts. A ghost is a real round someone logged at your course, near your rating, and it plays hole by hole alongside you. A solo Tuesday twilight round counts exactly like any other match. Your rating never stalls because you couldn't find a fourth.

What does it cost?

Nothing during the private beta — every feature is included. We want the rating pool to be deep and honest before anything else, and that means getting as many rounds logged as possible. If we add a paid tier later, beta members keep what they have. No card required to join.

When do invites go out?

Weekly, in signup order. Tell us your home course after you sign up — we seed courses with ghosts before we open them, so there's already someone to play on day one. When your course is seeded, you're in. Most people on the list today get in within a few weeks.
